The Hills Are Good People & a Loving Family
At six weeks old I was adopted by Robert and Ernestine
Denoncour. Until their passing they did there very best, every day, to be good
parents.
Catholic Charities in Dorchester Massachusetts handled the adoption. I was
Baptized into the Catholic Church at two days old.
When taken to my first home I met my two older sisters Mary and Carolyn. Well,
they met me. At six weeks I had no idea what was happening.
I would stay at that same home until I was 20. I attended Sacred Hearts School
in Bradford, Haverhill High School, and Northern Essex Community College.
From there I headed to Scottsbluff Nebraska for 2 more years and a BA in
psychology.
Long story short, I moved to South Florida, took my first job (lasted 18 years),
got married, and we had our first child. All within first year after college
graduation.
Before leaving my first job in retail we had three girls and one boy in our
family. We lived in Boca Raton, Florida.
I started my own security camera business and that brought me to retirement
around 2010.
I moved to North Florida to be with two of my daughters and thirteen
grandchildren. My other two children are now in San Antonio Texas with three
more grandchildren.
Long hours and hard work was behind me in retirement and I had time to reflect
on my life. I even joined an Ancestry company to learn my biological heritage.
Well - English, Scottish, Irish, Wales and a little Scandinavian showed up on my
DNA.
A couple weeks ago Ancestry emailed me with their now larger data base. Same
heritage .... but they added a first cousin!!!!!
A quick exchange of emails and on March 7th 2020 I met with one uncle (my
mother's brother) two of his four sons, and their wives.
They could not possibly have been more gracious, more loving, and more accepting
of their new relatives (me and my oldest daughter who came with me).
We are already planning more get-togethers with more of our family members.
The only disappointment was learning my mother, Dorothy passed away on January
31, 1970. She was only 43 years old. This was the time of my college senior
year.
By the way her family welcomed me, it is obvious that Dottie was loved and
cherished by her family.
